The FKTA CEO Talk Series 2025, held on 17 November 2025, was a highly impactful programme that brought together two prominent national industry leaders from the construction and sewerage services sectors. The invited speakers were Ms. Zainora Zainal, Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, and Ir. Mohd Taufik Salleh, Chief Operating Officer of Indah Water Konsortium Sdn. Bhd.

The presence of both distinguished speakers went beyond a conventional sharing session, serving as a strategic platform to bridge the gap between emerging talent and industry expectations through exclusive insights from industry leaders. The session provided direct exposure to students and staff on real industry demands, current competency standards, as well as future directions in technology and sustainability within the sewerage services sector.

The Vice-Chancellor of UniMAP, Dato’ Prof. Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli, together with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Shukry Abdul Majid, also engaged with the speakers prior to the programme, reflecting UniMAP’s strong commitment to strengthening industry networks and advancing strategic collaborations.

Together, the initiative reaffirmed FKTA’s dedication to empowering future talents to remain relevant and competitive within the real-world industry ecosystem.

The FKTA Monthly Webinar (6/25) titled “Governance & Climate: Shaping Sustainable Cities” was successfully conducted on 30 October 2025. The webinar featured Mr. Noor Aiman Samsudin, Project Advisor at MNF Infra Sdn. Bhd., as the invited speaker, who delivered an insightful presentation highlighting key governance strategies and climate considerations essential for future sustainable urban development.

The session was expertly moderated by Ts. Dr. Nurul Akmam Naamandadin, Senior Lecturer at FKTA UniMAP, who facilitated meaningful discussions and encouraged active engagement among participants. The webinar received enthusiastic participation from academicians, researchers, students and industry professionals, reflecting strong interest in governance and climate-related urban challenges.

5 December 2024 | FKTA Strategic Plan Workshop 2025-2026 The FKTA Strategic Plan Workshop 2025-2026 took place at Tasoh Lake Resort with full attendance from all FKTA staff. During the workshop, presentations were delivered by the leaders of each of the 19 committees established. These presentations covered the Objectives, Targets (KPIs), and Initiatives (Plans) formulated to support the strategic direction of the faculty.It is hoped that each committee will carry out their responsibilities effectively, ensuring that the planned strategic plan can achieve the faculty's goals, support UniMAP’s quality objectives, and ultimately elevate the faculty to a higher level of excellence.

On 22 November 2025, the Faculty of Civil Engineering & Technology (FKTA), UniMAP participated as an exhibitor at HPTN 2025 held at the Perlis state level, following an official invitation to take part in the event. The FKTA exhibition booth was led by Dr. Nur Liza Rahim, Deputy Dean (Academic & Research), with the support of FKTA staff and students.

The FKTA booth also welcomed visits from alumni who are currently serving in various companies and agencies within the state of Perlis, further strengthening alumni engagement and industry networking.

A team of three final-year Civil Engineering students, under the supervision of Dr. Ilya Joohari, was successfully shortlisted to advance to the second stage of the Design for Plastics Circularity Challenge (DPCC) 2025, namely the Plastics and Innovation Bootcamp. The Bootcamp was held on 23 and 24 October 2025 in Shah Alam, bringing together the most promising teams from across the country to further develop and strengthen their innovative ideas addressing challenges in plastics circularity.

The Bootcamp served as a comprehensive platform for participants to refine their concepts through structured mentoring, technical guidance, factory visits, and capacity-building sessions with industry experts and key stakeholders. The experience provided valuable exposure to real-world sustainability challenges while enhancing students’ innovation, problem-solving and industry engagement skills.
